Our Ethos

First Light Festival Community Interest Company was established in 2018 with the aim of dramatically increasing engagement and participation in the arts in Lowestoft.

FLF C.I.C. hopes to grow a local arts ecology and to transform perceptions of Lowestoft, taking as its inspiration and USP Lowestoft’s location as the most easterly place in the UK, and celebrating the most easterly midsummer sunrise.

The free access festival shines a light on Lowestoft’s beautiful beach and coastline with a programme inspired by the themes of time, tide and the elements, and with key moments of the festival marked with compelling programming.

Community projects connect Lowestoft people to the festival and location in a variety of ways and volunteering opportunities also give local people a sense of ownership and pride.

First Light Festival Community Interest Company is run by the Board of Directors: Clare Matterson; Mary Graham; Sarah Kemp; Wayne Hemingway.
