Tiny Magic Orchestra – a magical musical adventure for families comes to the Battery of Ideas
Tiny Magic Orchestra is a chamber music concert specially designed for young children and their families. It will be performed at the Battery of Ideas – the former Tesco building on London Road North, Lowestoft on Saturday 14 June at 11am.
Presented by Charly Jolly, along with two musicians from Britten Sinfonia, Tiny Magic Orchestra immerses children in a vibrant musical adventure, using an innovative setup that combines live performance and creative storytelling.
Through this engaging experience, children explore different cultures, environments, and even outer space, all while learning about the power of music and its ability to transport them to new worlds. The concert has been created especially for children aged 4-8 years and their families.
The show is 50mins long so a perfect introduction to music concerts for little ones and tickets are just £6 adults and £3 for children.
This work has been created by Britten Sinfonia, a chamber orchestra based in the East of England. For more than 30years, Britten Sinfonia have been the only professional orchestra working throughout the region and has developed a national and international reputation.
Tiny Magic Orchestra has been touring to schools and village halls across the region, but it’s performance at the Battery of Ideas is the first time it will have been performed in a former supermarket.
Led by First Light Festival CIC, The Battery of Ideas Place Partnership is an exciting new project designed to fire up ideas, enthusiasm and involvement in the new Cultural Quarter development in Lowestoft town centre. The project has breathed life into the former Tesco, 119 – 125 London Road North, creating ‘The Battery’ a temporary think tank and creative space.
From Autumn 2024 to Spring 2026, ‘The Battery’ will be a testing ground for a collaborative programme of work including dance and visual arts residencies, a creative health programme, music and arts participation created with a consortium of partner organisations including The Seagull Theatre, The Marina Theatre, Access Community Trust, Association of Suffolk Museums, DanceEast and Britten Pears Arts.
