First Light Festival CIC Appointed as Cultural Operator for Lowestoft’s New Cultural Hub

First Light Festival CIC welcomes the announcement that we have been appointed as the cultural operator for Lowestoft’s planned Cultural Hub.

Building on the success of the annual midsummer Festival on Lowestoft beach, First Light Festival CIC is excited to bring its distinctive multi-arts approach into the town centre and the Cultural Hub, for a vibrant, accessible creative space where people feel comfortable to dwell, take part in a wide range of cultural experiences and develop a strong sense of ownership and community.  First Light looks forward to developing cultural tourism, increasing footfall and bringing life and vitality into the heart of the town to support the evening  and night-time economy.

The Cultural Hub will complement Lowestoft’s existing cultural offer by creating new opportunities for participation, collaboration, and creative growth, and further strengthening the town’s reputation for creativity and community engagement.

Clare Matterson, CBE, Chair of First Light Festival CIC said:

"This announcement marks a hugely important moment for culture in Lowestoft. Investing in high-quality, accessible cultural spaces is vital for the long-term health, pride and identity of the town. The Cultural Quarter creates a powerful opportunity to embed creativity at the heart of Lowestoft’s future, building on the energy and ambition that already exists locally.

Genevieve Christie, CEO of First Light Festival CIC, said:

“This is about more than a new cultural building — it’s about creating a lively, inclusive hub that supports creativity, wellbeing and connection, and bringing energy into the town centre for residents and visitors alike.”
